Refereeing a court
You need a phone and a sign-in link or password. Everything below happens on your own device — nothing is shared, and two referees never score the same court.
Sign in
Tap Sign in at the top of the screen. Use your password, or ask for an email link. If an organiser gave you a join code, open that link first — it gives you scoring rights for the event.
Find your court
Open the event and choose Referee. You will see every court that is not finished. Pick the one you are standing at.
Take the court
Tap Take this court. That makes you the referee responsible for it, and stops anyone else scoring the same match by accident. If somebody else already has it, ask them to release it — or ask an organiser, who can take it over.
Score the rallies
Tap + under the team that won the rally. The number updates immediately. Keep tapping as fast as the rallies come — the buttons do not lock up between presses.
Fix a mistake
Tap − under the team that should not have got the point. There is no penalty for correcting a score, and it is much better than leaving it wrong. The tie-break record is corrected with it.
Golden Ball (playoffs only)
If a team calls a Golden Ball before a rally and then wins it, tap Golden Ball for that team instead of the ordinary +. It is worth two points in total. Each team gets one per court, and it can be undone if you tap it in error.
When the clock runs out
The clock turns red for the last two minutes and every court in the round ends together. You have 30 seconds after the buzzer to record a rally that was still in play, then scoring closes.
Close the court
Tap Mark court complete. When every court in the round is complete the next round opens automatically. If you closed it too early, tap Reopen court.
If something looks wrong
- The score jumped. Another device may have scored the same court. Check who holds it, and take it over if it should be yours.
- The buttons are greyed out. Either the round has finished, the court is marked complete, or somebody else holds it. The screen says which.
- The clock says the round has not started. It starts on its own at the scheduled time. You do not need to start anything.
- You cannot see the next round. It unlocks once every court in the current round is marked complete.
